The Blackbird Sight™ is based on familiar shapes: A triangle is a very familiar shape. When you see a triangle with part of it missing, your mind will complete that shape and predict where the missing point will fall.

The Science
The Blackbird relies on a process is called subjective contours, a principle that explains how the subconscious mind fills in the blanks when the eye sees part of a familiar shape, like a circle, square, or triangle. Our sight shows a truncated pyramid front post which is an incomplete triangle; your mind instantly creates a subjective awareness of the missing apex. The similar shape of the rear notch creates a second point of reference and completes a “virtual laser pointer” across the two points.
The Comparison
Sight alignment with the Blackbird Sight™ is a subconscious alignment of two points in space. That intuitive process is much simpler than the multi-step procedure with traditional sights, which require equalizing the left and right gaps and aligning the top of the front and rear sights.
