University of Alabama at Birmingham professor draws bead on gunsight patent
A UAB professor has combined his knowledge of the eye, his penchant for problem-solving and his love for competitive shooting to come up with a better way to aim a pistol.
Tim Kraft, a Vision Science Research Center investigator at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and an expert marksman, has developed Opti-sight. The new gunsight is based on subjective contours, an optics principle that explains how the subconscious mind fills in the blanks when the eye sees half of a familiar shape, like a circle, square or triangle.
